EuroMediter actions

MEDITER-Women for Change is a biennal project funded by the EuropeAid Cooperation Office, which manages the external cooperation programs of the EU.

The overall objective of the project MEDITER - Women for Change aims to strengthen women's leadership within local authorities and NGOs and, through them, to provide an appropriate response to the economic, political and cultural risks of marginalism in the Mediterranean region, one of the strategic areas of European gravity.

Indirectly, the project aims to reduce the risk of crises (economic, political and social) in the Mediterranean, through the strengthening of women's representation in the areas of administrative hierarchy and decision-making positions within the local authorities and NGOs.

To achieve these objectives, the project aims in particular to achieve the following two specific objectives:

1.To increase the preparation level and the access to decision-making positions of women by developing an ongoing program of higher education for women-manager of local authorities and NGOs.

2.To ancourage a permanent exchange between women-manager of public and nonprofit sectors on subjects of common interest, through the creation of a thematic network dedicated to the development of cultural policies.

Under the second goal, in January 2011  the network MEDITER - Euro-Mediterranean Network for cooperation has been created.

The network MEDITER - Euro-Mediterranean cooperation Network, AISBL

MEDITER, Euro-Mediterranean cooperation Network, aims to establish and consolidate an innovation and experimentation process whithin the cooperation North / South - South / North is seen as a strategic factor for development and peace.

It strives to have a double impact: from one side on the EU institutions and secondly, on populations (especially young women) of Mediterranean countries.

MEDITER aims to build a new local leadership in the Mediterranean region.

MEDITER promotes the strategic role of human resources by linking cultures, knowledge and skills. It also aims to boost cultural exchanges between the countries bordering the Mediterranean, based on their common cultural heritage.

It allows synergies between local and global.

It reinforces the construction of a regional identity, supports a dialectical relationship between Europe and  Mediterranean, working with all cultures of the Mediterranean region for the opening and international exchange.

In this context, MEDITER acts to encourage the development of cooperation relations between the Mediterranean countries with the conviction that such relations are a priority for the development of a common horizon of civilization.

That's why MEDITER solicits for membership, the local authorities, NGOs, foundations, universities, small businesses and nonprofit organizations in general, whether local or international.

Arabic Version

The network Mediter is aware of the importance to communicate to a wider audience into the Euro-Mediterranean region. That’s why it’s setting an Arabic version of this web site. It will come soon and it will spread the knowledge among all the partners.
