Algeria elects women legislators in record numbers
Algeria has become the first and only country in the Arab world to have more than 30 per cent of its parliamentary seats held by women, according to the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). IPU reports that 145 women were elected as parliamentarians during last week's elections in Algeria.
